I hope that every one had a wonderful and blessed Easter weekend. Our next meeting will be here before we know it—-always the 2nd Saturday of the month unless you hear otherwise. One thing though—our meeting place has been renamed! No longer is it called the Glen Center but it IS the same spot we have always met. The building spruce up that displaced us last month at the last minute brought us the Ernest White Community Center should you spot that in the calendar of events in the Daily Home & St. Clair Times. Still at the 16th Street and 10th Avenue South address across from Duran South Middle School in Pell City! Now, if they change the school name too, it will really get confusing!!
The newsletter will be coming out soon and no doubt Jackie W, our editor will be reminding you of what you need to bring besides your smiling face! The Michael Miller fabric challenge projects are due to shown, for one. Shelia has a challenge plan for the reminder of the year, I hear.
Donna N will be looking for completed 2.5 inch log cabin blocks. The block foundations were passed out at the last meeting. However, Donna also posted about it here and you can download a pattern sheet if you lost yours or needed a prompt about what colors etc to use. See this post
The post that follows this one—with Judy S’s tips and directions is also an excellent resource for foundation piecing
Do you have your row of the month completed? The April row is rabbits and some of you are doing a paper pieced version. I decided to go with an appliqued version, pictured above, but I am NOT done yet but should be by the time meeting day rolls around. It is not too late if you want to join in the fun! See Denise, Sherry or Carole D. for particulars.
Of course there is always the fat quarter draw too! April’s selection is light pink and May, yellow. Batiks or tone on tone.
Remember to wear your name tag too or the treasurer will be collecting a quarter!! New members should find a pattern for the Friendship Star name tag in their folders but any name tag will work until quilt show time.
Lastly, the May sew-in will be coming up prior to the May meeting. That means that the Ways and Means gals will be having the fund raising table at the APRIL meeting. Bring your spending money and remember, the more we spend, the better we eat!!
Watch your mail box for the newsletter. Jackie would have the most up to date information for you. The newsletters are also posted here on the website as is any of the other information I spoke about. Well, not the BOM part as your co-webmistress should be updating that section as well as the new building name!
Hope to see soon!
