Project Valor Progress Report

Standard
The Friendship Quilters’ Sew-In held February 16, 17, and 18 in Pell City, Alabama, was a huge success! There was a great turnout of guild members.  We completed 16 more quilt tops towards our goal of 250 for the local veterans hospital scheduled to open this summer.  Several more  tops are still under construction.
The quilts are all beautiful!  Check them out on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150626826647188.415497.260737882187&type=1  Some of the patterns used were Quilt of Valor designs while others were designed by our talented members.  All fabrics used this weekend were donated by various members. The guild purchased batting and backing to complete the quilts.
The project has been a year long ongoing one by our members who have donated fabric and time on the many other already completed 60″ X 90″ bed quilts.  Our members are to be commended for taking on this community service project and giving selflessly of themselves to the men and women who have served our country.  Many members will be completing the process at home in order to have the quilts ready for the Opening of the Col. Robert L Howard State Veterans’ Home in June 2012.
We extend a special thanks to the Pell City Civic Center for the use of their facilities and to Mr. Paul Manning of Manning BBQ for providing our lunch on Saturday.  As always, “Hats Off” to my fellow quilters.”
Keep Others in Stitches,
Peggy
P.S.  If you would like to help us reach our goal, please contact us!  We’d love to hear from you!
